Early Life

Born in Madrid on March 18, 1944, he was the son of Francisco Javier Espinosa de los Monteros y Herreros de Tejada, 3rd Marquess of Valtierra, and Galinda Bernaldo de Quirós y Alcalá-Galiano. [2] [4] He pursued his higher education at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where he earned a degree in Law in 1965, followed by a degree in Business Administration from ICADE in 1966. [3] [7]

Career and Accomplishments

Espinosa de los Monteros enjoyed a multifaceted career spanning both the public and private sectors. He served as a commercial counselor for Spain in Chicago and held significant leadership roles, including vice-president and chief business officer of the National Institute for Industry (INI). [21] [18] In the private sector, he served as the president of Iberia and held long-standing roles as the CEO of Mercedes-Benz España and chairman of the board for Daimler Chrysler España Holding. He is perhaps best remembered for his role as the first High Commissioner for the Government for Brand Spain (Marca España), a position in which he worked to enhance the international reputation of the country.
