Blanton's is produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The site has a long history of distilling, with records indicating activity as early as 1775. Over the centuries, the distillery has operated under various names, including the Old Fire Copper (O.F.C.) Distillery and the George T. Stagg Distillery. Today, it is owned by the Sazerac Company. The distillery is deeply tied to the legacy of Colonel Albert B. Blanton, who began working there in 1897 at age 16 and eventually served as its president until 1952. His leadership and dedication to quality helped shape the distillery into the landmark institution it is today.

Product History

Blanton's Single Barrel was introduced in 1984 by Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee. Nearing his retirement, Lee sought to create a bourbon of exceptional quality. He drew inspiration from his early career in the 1940s, when he worked under Colonel Blanton. During that time, the Colonel would personally select "honey barrels" from the center sections of Warehouse H to share with dignitaries and guests. Honoring this tradition, Lee launched Blanton's as the first commercial single-barrel bourbon. The whiskey is crafted using Buffalo Trace’s mash bill #2 and is typically aged for six to eight years in American white oak barrels.
