Early Life and Career

Born in October 1949, Enda Bonner was a lifelong resident of Dungloe. Beyond his political career, he was a senior partner in an auditing and accounting firm based in Letterkenny. He was also widely recognized for his deep ties to his local community and his family, including his cousin, the former international goalkeeper Packie Bonner.

Political Accomplishments

Mr. Bonner was a long-serving member of the Fianna Fáil party. His political career included serving as a Senator from 1997 to 2002. He was a dedicated representative for the Glenties electoral area, serving as a county councillor from 1999 to 2019. Additionally, he contested the 1997 general election in the Donegal South-West constituency.

Sports and Community Involvement

A passionate figure in the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Mr. Bonner was an accomplished player for his club, CLG An Clochán Liath, and represented the Donegal senior football team. He served as the vice-president of his club and acted as a County Board delegate. In recognition of his contributions, CLG An Clochán Liath suspended all club activities following the news of his passing.
