Netflix Expands Albuquerque Production Hub with Significant Infrastructure Investment

Netflix has officially unveiled a major expansion of its production complex in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The project adds significant infrastructure to the company's West Coast production hub, which now spans 108 acres. This development is part of a broader $2 billion commitment by the streaming service to the region's film and television industry. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos announced the expansion together, highlighting the state's growing role as a primary center for media production. The new facilities are designed to support the company's increasing output of original content. The expansion includes four new soundstages, three mills, one production office, and two stage-support buildings. Additionally, the site now features two dedicated backlot areas to accommodate larger-scale filming requirements. These additions are expected to create thousands of jobs for the local workforce and provide a substantial boost to the New Mexico economy. The studio complex is already slated to host several upcoming projects, including the contemporary Western romance Ransom Canyon, the medical procedural Pulse, and the supernatural series The Boroughs. Sustainability was a core focus of the new construction project. The expanded facility incorporates on-site solar power and battery storage systems to manage energy needs efficiently. It also features geothermal heating and cooling, all-electric appliances, and 50 electric vehicle fast chargers to reduce the site's overall carbon footprint. This focus on green technology aligns with the company's broader corporate environmental goals.
