His death was confirmed by his brother, Uffe Andreasen, to the Danish news agency Ritzau. Early Life and Education

Ole Andreasen was born on July 30, 1939, in Frederiksberg, Denmark, to Arne Andreasen, a civil engineer, and Karen Elin Christensen. He grew up in West Jutland, a region that shaped his early perspective. He began his career in journalism as an apprentice at the newspaper Vestkysten in 1958. His early professional years saw him honing his craft at Dagbladet Børsen and Kristeligt Dagblad before joining the political news bureau of the Liberal Party (Venstrepressens Bureau).

Journalistic and Media Career

In 1963, Andreasen joined Danmarks Radio (DR) as a political reporter, where he became a household name. He was particularly noted for his coverage of the historic "landslide election" of 1973. His distinct, resonant voice earned him a permanent place in Danish cultural history as the narrator of the summaries for all 24 episodes of the legendary TV series Matador (1978–1981). He also provided narration for the film Olsen-banden deruda' (1977) and had a brief appearance as a newsreader in Olsen-banden slår igen. In 1975, he served a brief but impactful tenure as the editor-in-chief of Fyns Tidende.

Corporate and Political Leadership

Transitioning to the corporate sector in 1976, Andreasen joined the Carlsberg-Tuborg Breweries as head of information and deputy director. His long association with the brewery led to the popular nickname "Øl-Ole" (Beer-Ole). He eventually rose to the position of vice director at Carlsberg A/S, a role he held from 1991 until 1999. Parallel to his business career, he was active in local politics, serving on the Gentofte Municipal Council from 1978 to 1982. In 1999, representing the Venstre party, he was elected to the European Parliament. During his five-year term (1999–2004), he served as a member of the Committee on Culture, Youth, Education, the Media and Sport and was the parliament’s rapporteur on information policy.

Personal Life

On September 27, 1969, Andreasen married Anne-Lise Pragner, a television producer and art historian. Throughout his life, he held numerous board positions for organizations such as the Tuborg Foundation, Royal Copenhagen Retail, and the Danish Rheumatism Association (Gigtforeningen). He was also known for his passion for art, serving for years as the chairman of the association Kunst på Arbejdspladsen (Art at the Workplace).

Ole Andreasen’s legacy is defined by his unique ability to navigate the disparate worlds of media, commerce, and governance with equal authority.
