48 BCE — Battle of Pharsalus

378 — Battle of Adrianople

1173 — Construction of the Tower of Pisa Begins

1930 — Betty Boop Debuts

The iconic animated character Betty Boop made her first appearance in the cartoon "Dizzy Dishes." Created by Max Fleischer, she became a cultural symbol of the 1930s.

1945 — Atomic Bombing of Nagasaki

In the final days of World War II, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. The event caused unprecedented destruction and loss of life, contributing to the end of the war shortly thereafter.
