Early Life and Professional Career

Pascal Baurain was born on September 12, 1969, in Mons, Belgium. He pursued a career in law, becoming a member of the Mons Bar Association in 1998. Throughout his legal practice, he developed a reputation for his expertise in juvenile rights, insurance law, and commercial and civil leases. He was notably involved in representing the Logis Saint-Ghislainois, a social housing organization in Wallonia.

Political Career and Accomplishments

Baurain entered the political arena in 2006, motivated by a desire to serve his community in Saint-Ghislain. He served as an advisor for the Public Centre for Social Welfare (CPAS) from 2007 to 2011. In 2012, he emerged as a prominent opposition leader in the Saint-Ghislain municipal council, a position he maintained through his commitment to local governance. His political career reached the regional level when he served as a Member of the Parliament of Wallonia for the Arrondissement of Mons, first from May 2016 to November 2018, and again starting in June 2024. Additionally, he served as a deputy of the French Community of Belgium, where he held the role of Vice-President of the Commission for Childhood, Youth, Youth Aid, Justice Houses, Health, Women's Rights, and Equal Opportunities.

Legacy

Pascal Baurain passed away on September 3, 2025, in Sirault, Saint-Ghislain. He is remembered as a steadfast advocate for his constituents and a dedicated public servant who balanced his legal acumen with a deep commitment to social welfare and regional development within the Humanist Democratic Centre (CDH) and later Les Engagés (LE) parties.
